OPTICAL ENGINEERING
Ensuring Real World Performance
A good optical design is just the start. Our engineers are skilled in tolerance analysis, stray light analysis, optics material selection, design for manufacturing, and opto-mechanical alignment and testing.
Modeling the optical system performance across a range of working temperatures ensures that systems will perform as required. Using monte-carlo analysis and other techniques, manufacturing tolerances are considered during the optical design stage to ensure that designs are produceable and cost targets can be met. Stray light simulation helps to improve contrast and provides the mechanical engineers with critical information to complete the opto-mechanical design.
Simulation and modeling provides a good starting point but simulation alone is not sufficient. Prototyping is a critical step in any new optical product development program. Greenlight’s engineers utilize a variety of prototype assembly and testing tools to analyze, understand, and improve the performance of optical product designs prior to production.
